The project comprises an extension, garage conversion and remodelling of a 1970’s bungalow. The client was seeking a contemporary extension and internal works to re-organise the existing accommodation together with key accommodation absent from the original property. The plan suffered from having the bathroom directly off the main entrance hall with the bedrooms served from a separate private hallway. Although not part of the brief the proposals put forward options to resolve this by suggesting a re-organisation of the internal spaces. All private spaces are now clustered and served from the bedroom hallway with all living spaces being served from the main hallway.

The extensions form is derived by shifting the conventional box geometry to respond to the southern aspect and also to the large garden. The free corner is lifted to provide a more dynamic internal space with a split vaulted ceiling.
